Said good bye to Mariann and Jacob today. They spent a lot of time driving over here to see us, and the kids really loved to see them. Jacob didn’t show up in a lot of my shots, so here is one to prove that he was actually here, which his lovely wife in the background. My youngest daughter is always so sad when anybody in the family leaves, and she wanted to know why they had to go home.
“We have jobs,” Jacob said as he reached for his Subaru door handle.
By in large, though I think they had a good time with the kids. They were going to church in Issaquah on the way back to Pullman. However, the rest of the family was read to go to church. Although Dad is not Calvinistic, he said that he’d go to the Gig Harbor Presbyterian church. He likes just about everything about the church: the music, the preaching and the people. He just doesn’t like the theology. Although he admits that there will be Presbyterians in Heaven. I said there may even be a few Catholics. Dad agrees even to this, although he was in a good mood today.
My wife’s parents also came up to stay with us. While I don’t have any pictures of the them yet, I did get on of my daughter in the back of their SUV as we were ready to go to church.
The sermon was a good one on ignoring what would be “good manners” and dealing with those that are unloved in the world. We are to reach out to the homeless, the sick, and those in prison. It was a simple message but good. They used AV at the Church to good effect, including a snip from a TV broadcast describing a woman who left he Wall Street job to teach prisoners in the Texas penal system.
When we got back from Church, there was a Sunday paper lying on the floor porch on the chair. I asked Dad who was leaving him papers, as Al would always come up from his house with the paper after he had read it.
“I wonder if Al came by,” said Dad.
We went into the house, and Al comes up 5 minutes later. He was dropping by to pick up a dresser that was inside of his old house. So, we gave him hugs and asked him to come inside. I asked him a few question about the property, and asked him if I could post it on the internet. He agreed.
So here is more history of the place.
